The Constitution gives every American the inalienable right to make a damn fool of himself. - John Ciardi
it's this or that tuesday
i have decided that i am a bit "wiggly" when it comes to deciding this stuff...
1. Poetry or prose? prose, i suppose
2. Funky modern art or the older, "classic" variety? like both... give me hopper or wayne thiebaud though and i am a happy girl
3. Sculptures or paintings? paintings. definitely.
4. Theatre: exuberant musical or serious drama? oh man. both... both! equal!
5. Ballet or modern dance? ballet
6. Movies: major studio or indie? both... but are there really anymore "indie" studios out there.. i mean the big ones are trying to act like they produce indie flicks nowadays
7. Authors: Shakespeare or Dr. Seuss? i have to choose?
8. TV: PBS or A&E? PBS
9. Music: Beethoven or Beatles? john, paul, george, ringo and sometimes pete best, baby... on the never-ending quest to find the Butcher Album
10. Thought-provoking question of the week: You are a contributing member of your favorite art museum, and visit on a regular basis. They announce a new, temporary special exhibit by an artist surrounded by controversy...this person's work and/or political views offend you. Do you stop supporting the museum, or just stay away during the time the exhibit is there?
it depends... i probably would just stay away - i wasn't thrilled by the brooklyn museum of art's elephant dung on the virgin mary painting.... and i stayed away. no. i didn't go there and protest guiliani like the rest of the folks i worked at methodfive with, i just "let it go"... i really didn't support the artist. freedom of speech is a wonderful thing, but, i was pretty pissed about the fact that this dude got a grant and all that to create it. whatever... at the time, there was more important things in my life going on than getting my pants in a knot over some other guy who called himself an artist because he had a blob of pacaderm poop on a canvas.
