major league bullsh*t

zim now has a sprained hip.

i am still floored by the fact that some people think that pedro's actions were alright... and that the groundskeeper that jumped into the bullpen did nothing wrong...

denial ain't just a river in egypt... maybe it was babe ruth's curse that made the red sox lose all class (not a big stretch, i know) and the full moon was responsible for the groundskeeper to go nuts and jump in the bullpen...

right.

here are some articles about both debacles...

» Boneheaded beanball may send Boston's season down in flames (si.com) -- Pedro Martinez was getting knocked around.
He gave up back-to-back shots to the outfield. He lost the early lead that his teammates had worked to get him. He was losing. He wanted it to stop. He wanted the Yankees to quit teeing off on his pitches. So Pedro did what Pedro sometimes does. He turned punk.

» Pedro tosses Zimmer as Red Sox, Yankees brawl -- Pedro Martinez had an easier time with 72-year-old Yankees coach Don Zimmer than with the New York lineup.

» Total lack of class and a sad statement on people today -- If you don't, the old man might clobber you and knock you out of a game your team needs to win. I don't know what you would do but Pedro coolly grabbed Zimmer by the head - it's hard to avoid, really -- and pushed him to the ground. Given the situation, the reaction didn't seem out of line. As Boston reliever Scott Sauerbeck put it, "I don't care if the guy is in a wheelchair, you have to defend yourself.'' (it's like that last one is encouraging people to not respect their elders... can you tell this reporter effing hates the yankees... biased little @(*$^)

same story... "I thought it was a fan, so I went, "All right, I want to watch them beat up the fan,' " Sauerbeck said. "Then I saw it was our grounds crew guy and we all felt kind of bad."

» just because paul williams TEACHES "mentally disabled children" doesn't mean it makes him a saint. -- "He was standing in our bullpen waving the rally flag," Nelson said, following New York's 4-3 win over the Sox in Game 3 of the AL championship series. "I told him, 'If you're rooting for the Red Sox, why don't you go in their bullpen.' He jumped in my face and tried to take a swing at me."

as i said earlier... i am not condoning zim for charging the field... but come the eff on, he's an old dude - don't effing throw him... don't sprain his left hip (yes, that's the outcome.) and god only knows what happened in the bullpen... the thing is, the groundskeeper was employed by Fenway Park... keep your employees under control - whether it's some jackass who puts tarp on the field and walks around with a rake, or if it's some hotheaded punkass who throws 72 year old men to the ground without any qualm.
