i bailed on the whole open mic hosting thing
see, i was feeling awful about having to leave work (up in saddle brook) at 5pm just to be able to make it down to belmar at a reasonable time... i have deadlines and my responsibilities that i am not about to mess up. i've never missed a deadline in my life, and i'd like to keep that track record.
let's see... keep my ***k/year career that i pay my bills with or lose it because i want to leave early and head to a coffee shop to perform five minutes for FREE in front of four 15 year old kids and bring two guys who've never performed before up to the stage so they can stammer and sweat profusely?
so i wrote to my buddy last night to cancel this gig and he writes back this morning:
Thank you for your help last week but
I think we're going to have to shuffle the
deck again and give the hosting position
to someone else.~P
um.... yeah.... that's what i said... glad that he has to feel like he's the one calling the shots, though
was ready to sass him about it, but i will choose my battles
