okay. the hurricane charley update.

kerry and linda evacuated from marathon key yesterday. arrived in Homestead, FL last night around 8pm - yes. THAT homestead, florida wiped out by Hurricane Andrew... they brought Franklyn (cousin Fran's dalamatian) and Mel (ker's multipoo) and stayed over.

Cousin Fran stayed in Marathon... not for nothing, he has a trailer/mobile home thing. although i think he stayed at his boss' place which is a sturdy cement building.

Aunt Judy and Uncle Fran were on the beach in Naples, but drove over to Hollywood FL yesterday to get the hell outta dodge.

this morning, apparently, Linda left the motel and drove back to Marathon. Kerry - the smart one - is still hanging out safe and sound (although there are tornado warnings)

My Uncle Val and his wife, MaryLou, are over in Naples... in not all that sturdy structures (decent, but not cement-type of places)

the winds of Charley have been clocked between 145mph and 162mph --- and hasn't made landfall - about a few minutes away from hitting Placida, FL... and the fort myers area (we used to go to Pink Shell every winter when i was a kid... used to be bungalows, but it's crazy built up now)

anyway... to all y'all in Florida today, stay safe! stay dry! and what the heck are you doing on the computer!??!
