whoa! cool! good good good day! here's the skinny... my friend melissa called me and gave me the name of one of her headhunters who may have something for me... but...............
while i was on the phone with that headhunter (who has a kickarse company in nyc that she's sending my stuff to), i had a call on my cell -- i didn't recognize the number so i let it go into voicemail...
so after the first call, i checked the message... whoa! it's a company who i had redesigned one of their websites about 4 and a half years ago when i was at methodfive... they had been googling their company name and came across my portfolio site...
they called their HR chick and made her call me asap...
i now have an interview at 1pm tomorrow... in langhorne, pa. which, ironically enough, is 23 miles shorter a commute than it was to saddle brook where i had worked til june.
nice company. and here's a quote after the hr woman asked if i was interested and after i said yes...
"well, let me call over to the main building and tell them that you want to come in... i will probably have to wear earplugs and wait about 3 minutes til i speak to them because they will be screaming with joy!"
awwwwwww... how sweet is that!!??
so, i had an interview lined up for the freelance gig at the NJ state funeral directors' assoc. for 10:30am... but since the PA gig is a fulltime one, that takes priority over a 2 week long freelance gig (where the main focus is death)
wish me luck!
still waiting for the results on the nyc interview i went on 2 weeks ago.
so keep clicking those heels!!
** just as i was about to post this, my recruiter for the funeral gig called and still wants me to try to do that job (gonna see if they want to reschedule for wednesday...) oh well, a few bucks wouldn't kill me as i wait for the results of the PA gig and the NYC gig (why i think the PA gig will hire me asap, i don't know. gut feeling. pretty much because i have experience with their site (although they told me i would be responsible for redesigning their main site and some other subsidiary sites now too...) plus a guy that i had worked with on that project - who was part of a different company and who i actually had forgotten - was questioned by them about me last week they said - and he told them "get her in there"
wow! kinda flattering, isn't it??
this is the company who's website i worked on as my last official web design project at methodfive before xceed ate us... in fact, i had gotten back to the office from langhorne on february 13th, 2000 at about 7pm... and i wanted to redesign my iterations that i had some more ideas about.. so i was in the city (on bleeker and broadway) til about 1:30am - the security guard said goodnight to me... now at that point, i was kinda tired and feeling a bit sketchy about heading back to my apartment (*in jersey city) so i kept work... 3am rolled around, the heat was shut off... so i was bundled up at my desk working... fighting off my eyelids who happened to be closing every 4 seconds it seemed... so i got up at 3:30am from my desk to go get some coffee in the kitchen... i opened the fridge to get some milk and i saw a case of dom perrignon in the fridge that had "ADEO'S" marked on it.
curious. i thought.
anyway. i get the milk, get the coffee and go back to work.
WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP!
frigging motion detector alarm went off!!! crap. so i just went back to my desk (the thing shut off after 10 seconds, so i thought nothing of it)
i kept working on the site...
15 minutes later, i hear the doorbell and voices out in the hall. no effing way was i going to go out there... soon enough they went away.
okay... 4:30 rolls around... 5:30 rolls by, too... pretty soon it's 6:30am. i've created 16 more iterations throughout the evening... i am dragging ass.
so i left and hit the PATH train to go home since it wasn't pitch black out anymore...
i called dave, my creative director, said i was there all night and i needed to rest... cool.
then throughout the day, of course i was checking my emails... odd things seemed to be going on, very cryptic messages like, one from one of my coders was "i need time to think about everything that's just been said, i am going to walk in the park." and one from adeo "please meet in the gameroom for an announcement"
wtf?
also there was a message "does anyone know anything about the false alarm that happened in the building around 3:45am? this costs money to have the security system show up to check"
eh. crap.
so everything seemed kinda surreal... and i called dave up to see what the hell was going on while i wasn't there that fateful day.
yep. methodfive had just been sold to xceed for $75 mil.
valentine's day massacre.
the rest, as they say, is history.
