right place. right time.
October 13, 2004 12:32 AM

so, yep, i will be commuting by train (NJ Transit North Jersey Coastline to be exact) which will be $291 for a monthly pass.

i haven't done the daily commute from manasquan to nyc since april 1997... i forget if i can go on friday (the 15th) and get a half month pass - which i will have to do since i start on monday YAY!

so i won't be killing my car (like i had done trekking 70 miles up to and 70 miles back from saddle brook - yep 140 a day sucked.) and the gas won't factor in very much as manasquan's train station is like 7 miles from home - i could take the train from point pleasant, but i like trekking into 'squan.. we'll see if i get lazy and go to point down the road...

it's the same monthly fare, so it doesn't matter...

the job is one and a half blocks from penn station... this means i don't have to pay extra cash for subway fare on top of the $291...

i have an Andrew's Coffee Shop right under my building and a starbucks across the street (of course)... but the thing i cannot wait for is to get out of the station and buy my morning coffee from one of the guys in their tin coffee carts on the corner.. LOVE THAT... have missed it for 3 years.

i had one coffee guy who was awesome... that was when i worked at methodfive (which was at bleeker & broadway) but my coffee guy was in a cart at prince and bleeker... he would see me across the street - even when there was a huge effing line... and then he'd wave me up front and hand me my coffee that he had already prepped without my asking... and on days that i was feeling icky he always seemed to say "you are looking beautiful today!" and if i had a cold - he seemed to be able to tell - he would suggest that i drink tea.

it killed me when i had to move with methodfive down to the woolworth building... hopefully my coffee guy at one of the new corners will be just as cool.

so this place isn't the wedding website gig... this is a company where i would be working on their 3 retail fashion sites as well as their fashion magazine site... there's 3 brands that've been around for years... so it's well established...

lenox (that was the interview i went on today - the one who called me out of the blue yesterday) loved me -- but then again, i've already designed their site and worked with a few of them 4 years ago... unfortunately (for them) i have to email them tomorrow to let them down gently. and about 5 minutes after i got the offer from MY NEW JOB, i had a call from the ad agency that i'd been freelancing with in holmdel... they wanted me to work tomorrow - unfortunately (for them) i have a ton of stuff to get organized by monday... so there's no way...

i have to call my new creative director tomorrow to see what the exact start time is - i think she'd said 9:30 at the interview... that'd be swell... 7 years ago when i commuted to nine west i had to be in the office by 7:30am... that meant i had to catch the 5:24am train from 'squan... which meant that i had to wake up at 4am at the latest.

after looking at the pdf of the train schedule it looks like if i get the 6:57am i will get into nyc at 8:51... or if i want to change at long branch it'll get me in at 9:04... excellent!!!

i am quite excited!!

do you know what this means? it means that i can take my portable dvd player that i won at the golf tourney and watch movies on the ride home (sleep on the way to)

it also means that i will have total access to the city and get back onstage (in a few months) to perform...

not to mention, meet up with my friend cathy for some pints... and also peewee for apres-work cocktails...

in the spring it means all i'll have to do is hop on the subway up to the bronx to catch a ballgame then crash at cathy's afterward :)

here's my segue...

DID YOU CATCH THE YANKS/SOX GAME? who's your daddy!?

glad schilling was excited to "shut 50,000 new york fans up" tonight. *ahem*

granted, it got a tad sketchy in the later innings, but we pulled through... it's gonna be a great series this week.

okay. going to bed. gotta call the CD first thing tomorrow and fax over my offer letter (which kicked ASS by the way)
