sweet heavens to mergatroid. it was/is pouring (buckets, cats, dogs, torrential, arrrgh) this morning...
I drove half an hour north to long branch to catch the 7:51 and was early... except there was flooding!
norwood ave. - flooded. at LEAST 2 FEET! (photos tonight)
about 8 vans, cars, suvs were stuck in the water. I saw it and made a u-ie to bypass and try for higher ground to get to the station (keep in mind, it doesn't help to be less than a mile from the Atlantic, which was already swelling)
so I wound up going down eight (yes, 8!) different roads... to no avail. all were flooded. and I wasn't chancing Phooka drowning... already made him go into the city yesterday and get run down by Crazy Schlomo.
so I decided to trek up to another station... Little Silver. the land of one of the first of the daunting, massive parking lots..... and it was permit parking. I saw a cop, drove over to him. he said to park in the metered spots... then he said "just an fyi, the meters with yellow flags are broken so no money needs to go in them"
then he winked.
I winked back and smiled since he let me in on this conspiracy.
so it's in the wayyyyy back of the parking lot, which will be scary and rapey later tonight (hopefully less on the rape side since it's little silver)
anyway... since I missed the 7:51 out of long branch, the train I am now on out of little silver is the 8:24 out of long branch, which just so happens to be the 7:50 outta 'squan... which just so happens to be the RRE (which, dear confused new readers, stands for the Riff-Raff Express)
did I mention I have no idea where my umbrella is?
