okay, my friends... i am back from the Late Show.

here's the skinny...

yesterday around 1pm, I received an email from my friend Rich who asked if i had gotten the email from Jim Gaffigan asking if i wanted 2 tickets to see him on Letterman tonight.

lo and behold, not 10 minutes later, there was the email in my inbox... from jim (okay. yes. totally idolize his stand-up act and have been a fan since 1999 - if you want, go on the search thing over on the left and search for his name.)

so i called and emailed him back like "holy crap! yes! duh! tickets! yes" --- although, i phrased it a bit more eloquently... but that was my initial reaction.

so i called Cathy (who has gotten me into soundchecks for springsteen amongst a ton of other shows) to see if she wanted to go - she likes gaffigan as well...

i got to the theater (ed sullivan theater, that is, to the folks living under a rock) to pick up the tickets he left me at the stage door. mind you, i was going to the second taping and the first taping had George Clooney... so... i was the only one at the stage door while there was a slew of frigging paparazzi over to my left... a few took photos (probably just using up the last few frames on a roll of film)

then cathy showed up and we stood in the VIP line... it started to pour and they let us inside... then they sent us up to the balcony for some kick arse seats! we sat in the middle and in the first row! it rocked! (okay, yes, cathy had to keep telling me to "let it go" when i was whining that they were doing Know Your Current Events and going into the audience and i wasn't there... but i stopped (a little)

John Malkovich was the first guest... he was MALKOVICH!!!! a tad ramblin' but whatever, he's cool...

then the second guest was Tony Stewart - NASCAR dude... which, eh, i know dave is keen on the car racing and all, but, come on...

okay, the reason i am not thrilled with Stewart is because he ran long (so did MALKOVICH!!!) and we saw the clock ticking down.... and down...

crap. jim gaffigan got bumped. so I will be on the show (in the balcony, in the center. wearing teal and a blue/green scarf... and probably for .000012 of a second if that.) but jim will be on another time. they DID show his new cd/dvd "Doing My Time"
