well, speaking of podcasts.... mine is still in the larvae stage, while the Sound of Young America podcast by Jesse Thorn has burst out of the cocoon and is flyi---------- okay, i am so ready for effing spring. sorry for the butterfly reference. a tad on the cheesy side for me.
anyway, what the heck was i saying? right. The Sound of Young America podcast.
GO. listen to it.... oh, and yes, this week there's an interview with Jim Gaffigan (come on, y'all really didn't think that i would skip a week without mentioning him at least 5 times, right?)
The Sound of Young America
Jesse Thorn's Audio Interview with Jim Gaffigan (podcast mp3)
man alive, i have been crapping out on posting on here over the past few weeks. sorry about that. sheesh.
have had a LOT on my plate - that i will get into later. it's all pretty good though.
just busy as bloody sin.
how've y'all been?
i posted on saturday and no one commented on that one at all. what the hay?
well, i received an IM from gigglemom tonight (keep in mind she's right downstairs)
gigglemom [12:00 A.M.]: giubg ti gi okat a gane with m.a.
CHALLENGE:
who can decipher this sentence?
think you can?
then post it in the comments
keep in mind, it's part percacet, part that she was quickly typing and partly because, well, she's gigglemom and you may have seen her IM's before.
past GM IMs:
conversation 1
conversation 2
conversation 3
[note: she's gotten 1000 times better than the conversations above.]
UPDATE: yep. kevin was correct. exactly. damn. right out of the gate, too.
again have been insanely busy (will take a moment later to discuss.)
in the meantime, check out Rocketboom's chevy tahoe adverts *
[chevy tahoe was letting people create their own ads online for their SUV... the above are commercials that some folks made... in response to rocketboom airing their attempt]
yeah, it's about time that i start the Great Blogger Fat Off again....
UPDATE [8:45am]: i've got 20 signed up. if you didn't make the grid, yes, you can be part of the fat off, but you'll have to keep track on your own because i cannot update the grid....
i am only taking the first 20 people (last year got so effing insane with over 100 participants that i stopped updating it and it kinda died off.)
anyway....if you want to participate, let me know (i have 60 pounds to lose. yes. sixty.)
comment HERE and say that you want in on this and i will take the first 20 people who sign in.
you have to list your name (if you want to have a fake name, go ahead)
have your email address (in the email field - only i can view it)
your start weight (i'm going to come right out and say it, i fucking porked up and am 195.)
your height
your goal weight (this Great Blogger Fat Off runs from April 10, 2006 until July 10, 2006.... three months --- don't get crazy on me and say "i am going to lose 100 pounds"... personally, i think if i lose 30 pounds in 3 months i will be happy. then there will be the Great Blogger Fat Off, part 2 for another 3 months)
here's the skinny.... right now, i won't have the forum up like i did last year (maybe in a week or so, but for now, i am thinking that we just start posting in designated GBFO posts that i will have on this site.)
WEIGH IN IS EVERY MONDAY
you MUST post your start weight, followed by your current weight at that week's weigh in.
if you're a swell egg, you will have posted how much you've gained or lost, but i guess i have a calculator.
only if you are a brave soul, take a photo of yourself on the start date. then take one each week until july 10th ---- no, you don't have to post them (*if, down the road you are totally proud of the transformation, i can post 'em if you want to send them in to me)
ANY TAKERS?
start signing up... i will begin setting up the grid when i have 20 participants
okay. well, not me. but some museum of hoaxes site has my David Fountain image as the subject of a hoax query.
finally, one bloody site that gave me credit

okay, well, here we are.... it's the first weigh day
here's mine - it's not stunning (but it was a holiday week - that's what i am telling myself ---- plus my friend was chowing down as well)
start weight: 195
today's weight: 194
total loss/gain: - 1
for those of you ON the grid - i need you to post with the number that corresponds with your name [by the way, those of you who are ON the grid, remember, you are on the grid and there were 25 other folks who wanted to be on there - so i hope you post and don't waste the grid slot...how's that for some guilt??? hmmmmm?]
for those NOT on the grid just post your info here
both, post in here in the following manner:
name: --------
start weight: -----------
04/17/06 weight: --------
how much lost or gained: ----------
good luck to y'all...
[by the way, to those of you who've gained a pound or two, don't worry.... you'll get the hang of it. DO NOT QUIT - it's great that you posted. and, i'll tell you a little secret.... when i weighed myself it looked like i gained. then i took off what i was wearing --- eeeeeasy, freaks. don't get excited ----and still didn't like what the scale was bitching at me with.... so, eh... i pee'd. made sure that i am probably dehydrated this morning ---joke--- and lost a pound.... oh, and i threatened the scale with death and dismemberment - that seemed to work temporarily.]
definitely pay a visit to the grid to see how everyone's doing!
oh, so... i joined Curves tonight... again.
yes, i still am paying the monthly Fat Tax on the Bally's Membership that i don't use.
Curves, I think might be do-able. it's RIGHT next door to me during the day now.
See, I was a member of Curves about 3 or so years ago, when i was working in saddle brook. it was on route 46 and i got lost 6 out of the 8 times i went.
right now i am a tad on the sore (but good sore) side from doing the circuit tonight. am heading back on wednesday
anyway... there are a couple of stragglers in the GBFO™ who still haven't posted their weigh in... if you're reading this - DO NOT POST YOUR WEIGHTS IN THIS POST.... add it to the previous one.
oh yeah, so, last night when i was weighed and measured at Curves (that was a pleasure, let me tell you.) they checked my height.
okay... all my life i've been 5'6" tall.
2 years ago, my doctor logged my height as 5'6.75"
last night, they said i was 5'7" ---- they checked twice.
at this rate, i think i will be 6'6" by the time i am 73.
quite odd.
no wonder all of my pants look like floods.
i was surprisingly not crippled this morning after doing the Curves thing yesterday... gotta go tomorrow (i probably should get my sweats ready to bring to work)
oh, did i mention that i went out on saturday night with my ex-redheaded Bill? (not the RHB™ - different RHB. he likes to say he's the Original RHB™)
well, all the numbers are in for the grid (of course, there are tons of you in the comments --haha get it, play on words and.... eh... okay....where was i?)
so the 20 in the grid are in...
the leading "loser" of the week is Sheila with an 8 pound loss... WAY TO GO!!!
susan and mogirl both dropped 7 pounds... and then we've had a number of losses, a couple of gains (no worries. we're all gonna have weeks like that)
now here's where i'm gonna ask for you to post what you've been doing differently this week?
i, as i've already said, joined Curves on Monday (which is not reflected in the 1st weigh in numbers.) actually last week, the easter bunny and my "friend" were hanging out and force-feeding me... so i am hoping that april 24th's weigh in is better.
speak up.... what are you changing this week?
hey go over and click on my tenant on the right (under the Rental thing) --- that's Tricia's Musings... let's show her how many of you can head over there today.
oh... and how many of you are there near KALAMAZOO, MI? if you're within an hour of it, click here.
or are you on the west coast near LA? if so, click here.
eh... somehow a song got on my ipod (via a block of songs that i purchased without looking at all that were in there.)
and i have found myself dancing in my chair.
and happy when it comes on the goofy ipod.
the song... um... and i am going to lose a lot of you as readers i feel.
eh.... rock your body by justin timberlake
kill me.
*hangs her head in shame*
so this past week, i went to Curves 3 times (monday, wednesday and friday.)
and about 10 minutes ago, i just finished the 1 mile workout from the Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds (i forgot that i really liked doing that dvd)
good stuff.
disgustingly sweaty, but good stuff, nonetheless
will i have lost any weight this week? not sure (had mcD's and then penne pasta yesterday... but today had a lowfat bagel with lowfat cream cheese and a xl iced coffee with skim milk, no sugar from dunkin donuts... )
we'll see.
ALL YOU GREAT BLOGGER FAT OFF FOLKS, GET READY TO POST YOUR WEIGHT TOMORROW (preferrably in the morning, so i am not tracking y'all down at 11pm)
okay earlier today (well, yesterday/sunday) i did a mile workout with the leslie sansone dvd.
then i had a steakhouse salad from Outback (with a sweetpotato
but at 11:30pm i decided to break out the Walk Away the Pounds dvd again...
except this time i did the 2 mile workout.... (of course, immediately afterward i stepped on the scale and didn't see a difference, but i am hoping the morning will have a different effect on the scale)
gotta go to Curves monday night too.
okay, well, here we are....
it's the second weigh day
here's mine -
start weight: 195
today's weight: 192
loss/gain THIS week: -2
total loss/gain: -3
for those of you ON the grid - i need you to post with the number that corresponds with your name [by the way, those of you who are ON the grid, remember, you are on the grid and there were 25 other folks who wanted to be on there - so i hope you post and don't waste the grid slot...how's that for some guilt??? hmmmmm?]
for those NOT on the grid just post your info here
both, post in here in the following manner:
name: --------
start weight: -----------
04/24/06 weight: --------
loss/gain THIS week: --------
how much lost or gained since 4.10.06: ----------
good luck to y'all...
[by the way, to those of you who've gained a pound or two, don't worry.... you'll get the hang of it. DO NOT QUIT - it's great that you posted. i recommend weighing and posting your comment in the morning here.]
definitely pay a visit to the grid to see how everyone's doing!
okay, so i've changed the grid a little bit... where i have everyone on TWO lines - the bottom line reflecting the weight loss or gain of the week pound by pound.... while the top line still has the actual weight that you weighed in with that day.
i just know that some folks had gained last week and lost this week and got back to their starting weight ---- mentally i know that this makes you feel like you've not accomplished anything and that's bull! you've lost what you gained last week!
and if you gained weight, hey in the immortal words of scarlett o'hara, tomorrow is another day.
anyway... go check out the new grid... let me know if you're cool with it...
OR.... IF YOU HATE THE NEW GRID, let me know.... see if this second version is better.
jeez willikers! i pretty much have been jumping on and off the face of the earth lately. just have been insanely busy.
let's see...
thursday i was heading into Curves when i nearly ran over some chick with reddish hair. i looked at her - she looked familiar, but whatever, i kept driving and pulled into a spot.
2 seconds later the redhead is in front of my car. oh shit, is she going to growl that i almost drove over her?
"erin?"
how'd she know my name? i know her somehow, where the hell do i kn-----
"hey it's lynne. shamrock. shamrocketship."
HEYYYYYYYY! oh cool, duh! i've met her before - but my brain is like a sieve.
we chatted for a couple of minutes - apparently she goes to my Curves as well. neat!
it's in the complex where i work.
[insert gasp from you the Reader followed by "WORK!!!??? what?!!"]
yes. i am going to break the news here. i probably shouldn't but, whatever...
i got a new job. i was poached by a company down the shore here. i had never sent my resume to them and i had a phone call one day asking me to come in. i did. 3 minutes later the position was offered to me. 4 hours later, i took it.
it's a great small place that does decent work. and they have multiple clients - as opposed to my last job where i worked on 2 websites over 2 years. in the past month, i've worked on 7 different sites/flash projects/etc. it's great. the people are great - it's very small. 17 people in the company, 6 of whom are in my office -- including me.
here's the best part... well, ONE of the best parts (besides the fact that i am actually able to take an hour lunch outside the office)........
it's FIFTEEN MINUTES away from my house.
anyway... other than that, i've been busy with the freelance stuff -- one angel of a client (jim) and one devil/satanic one (namewithheld)
so... not too many bitchfests about the commute anymore. i pop on the parkway and then 15 min later i am popping off the parkway and am in the office.
yes. i took a huge paycut. but, actually, when you think about the cost of the commute to nyc and the stress and wear and tear on my body, it evens out nicely. very nicely.
i've been dying to tell you all this for a bit now... just haven't been able to.
first thing tomorrow morning, give a hearty "Rabbit, Rabbit" shout out!
