HOLD THAT TIGER.... BALM
December 5, 2007 12:52 PM

mother of pearl... i was so gung ho to go run (jog/walk technically) today.

okay, that was last night at 1am that I felt that way... right after I watched the Biggest Loser on my DVR.

so, i set my alarm for 8am (again, early.)

Beri woke me up at 6am. scratching to get up on the bed

had I mentioned that I had bought those Doggy Steps for her a month ago? Yeah, well, she's GREAT at going down the steps... and walking over to the side of the bed and scratching and barking for me to pick her up. So I do. She stays on the bed 30 seconds, then climbs down the Doggy Steps and goes to the side of the bed and scratches and yaps...

Rinse... Repeat 20 times.

anyway... so she's doing this at 6am. fine. come on. you're killing me.

I start watching Morning Joe on MSNBC (loving this show... i dig the logo... it just makes me happy, it's just really a great logo that they've got for the show and the colors are wonderful monochromatic browns/tans)

I finally fall back asleep at 7:15am-ish. Keep in mind I have the 2 alarms ACROSS the room (yet, still reachable from the end of the bed it seems) as well as another alarm that's next to my bed. The one next to my bed is obnoxious. It bounces around and there are about 6 voices that scream "IT'S TIME TO GET UP!!" and i'll have to find a link for it, it's ridiculous.)

So, um, I slept through every alarm this morning and woke up at noon. yeah. NOON.

Now I've gotta go down the street smelling like tiger balm and vick's vap-o-rub (i don't have a cold. i'd read something somewhere that it helps muscles) and have to buy gigglemom her smokes. (Thursday is the day that she calls in for her oxygen refills, but, every 2 days is when I have to go buy 3 packs of True Menthol 100s for her.)

Yeah, you can tell me "Oh Erin, you shouldn't buy them for her."

Aaaaaaand you can be the one who lives with her and her 58 year long addiction to nicotine and deal with the nic fit/withdrawal.

Not for nothing, but, I'll buy those frigging things for her (personally I'd rather slap about 40 nicotine patches on her while she sleeps, but, I don't think that'll stop her from wanting the cigarettes.)

Anyway, I'll be the one who dies from lung cancer by the time i'm 40 - She'll wind up living till she's 90 I'll bet.

(Did I ever mention the doctor 7 years ago who asked me "How long have you been smoking?" and when I said I don't smoke, he said "Huh! That's interesting." --- nice. and here I am attempting to run/jog/walk.)

Speaking of the running... I think I WILL go strap on the nikes and trek around the reservoir... it's just sooooooooooooooooo coooooooooooooooooold and i'm laaaaaaaazy.

BY THE WAY: OVER ON THE LEFT... I've added Dave Attell's new DVD "Captain Miserable" - it's available for pre-order (releases on Dec 11) believe me, it's excellent.

[update 1:33pm: it's frigging snowing! i'm not running. screw it, i'm sitting on the couch drinking hot chocolate & working now]

Whatchoosayin'?? (5 yapped)

Drove through the snow on my way to work today, me ownself! Stay warm. You don't want to go losing all that "extra layer of warmth" right when you need it the most! Maybe just sip the hot chocolate, pace yourself. It could be a long winter!

I feel your pain on the buying o'cigs. Had to do that for my gram for a few years... Only she smoked the More 100s, the long long brown ones in a red pack, know which ones I mean? Anywho... once she got on oxygen her dr. put the fear of God into her about flame around the tanks and she quit cold turkey. This after a good 50+ years of smoking. We couldn't even light a candle around her, she was so freaky about it. But she was also diabetic and had a stash of 3 Musketeers in the top drawer of her dresser that she thought we didn't know about. Everyone has their demons! :) And BTW, it is ok to use LOL every once in a while, just don't be one of those obnoxious people that uses it all the time for anything remotely humorous.

Yeah SNOW :)....now if it could just snow EVERYday then you wouldnt have to run :)I give myself credit for thinking about excerise...at least my minds in the right place and I think ONE day I'll actually listen and DO it...one day (when its not snowing)

Hey Erin,

Love reading your silly thoughts.

My last boss has his mother-in-law at a nursing home. She smokes still and is on oxygen as well. She has to go outside to smoke and leave her oxygen tank at the nursing station. Lots of people do that.

I have to go to work now. Don't want to go. Hate it. URGH!!!! You cheer me up.

Keep up the work outs.

I LOVE TIGER BALM!!!! It is way too windy here today for any outdoor activity so I guess I will pop Jillian Michaels back in the dvd player after work and cuss her as I struggle through the workout. :-)
