okay well, it's about 4:30am... the Jingle Bell 5K Run for the Arthritis Foundation is this morning.
I signed up.
I'm sleeping in.
I haven't run or walked since last saturday. Why? Well, basically my legs have been killing me.
like right under the knees on the inside - the first few days i thought "Cripes! I am so frigging fat, the force of my weight while running has broken both of my legs"
Then the tiger balm and icy hot were used for a few days.
Today, it felt like it was more like a muscle (i have to look online for what the hell muscle if any is where i am in pain - it seems to be the Medial Aspect of the Knee Joint) - it's on both legs. yay.
From what it looks and feels like it's where it says Medial Collateral Ligament... i think that light stretching may help to fix, but, eh, i didn't read that anywhere yet.. but, i'm pretty sure sitting my arse on the couch and watching shows that i've recorded will help the healing process tremendously... ice cream will speed recovery as well.

THIS would effing bite if this is the case...
after googling, i found this guy's site... we're exactly alike except, well, we're not. he runs marathons and has this knee issue, while i ran/walked/jogged/wheezed for 6 days and a total of 10.39 miles and am downing the Motrin and smelling like a balmy tiger.
I can walk UP the stairs (sort of) but DOWN i nearly die.
I find it ironic that the run i am NOT doing tomorrow is for the arthritis foundation.
Of course, last weekend I watched the Ironman Triathlon and there was a blind grandfather, another guy with both legs amputated and a kid who died on the operating table 3 years ago because his heart was thrown to the other side of his chest in a car accident. Not to mention they replayed footage of a guy with Lou Gehrig's disease who actually rolled himself over the finish line.
I, on the otherhand, am NOT an Ironman....
my legs huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurt.**********
********** i had arthroscopic knee surgery on my right knee when i was 20... so, i'm somewhat happy that this is in BOTH knees and it's not something that was caused by a weak right knee. BUT, i am kinda taking it easy because i don't want to be crippled and ALSO BECAUSE i don't have health insurance. That would suck, to put it bluntly.
*************** oh and the frigging gigglechick fat off on the nikeplus site that i set up... i'm like next to dead last and there are freaks that have run almost 30 miles in a week. how frigging FAT can they be that they run that much? i was hoping for a more sloth-like group of people.

Whatchoosayin'?? (5 yapped)
Sorry you are hurting... that sucks. I'm being slothlike, and I totally agree with you on the other side of the coin, fat people are not likely to run 15 miles in one fell shwoop. maybe they are giving their sensor to their fit friends... HOLY CRAP! I bet that's it!!!!! effing cheaters

Well Honey, it is probably just too much too soon, but not being a medical professional I won't try to diagnose you. I do know that I tried to do too much too soon and injured my knees back in 2005. I had to back off the running and do some alternate cardio for a while, but of course I had gone from borderline heart attack to two half marathons in 9 months at the time.
So I am hoping that it is just your knees asking you to try walking and gentle strength-training. Like I said I am your biggest Canadian fan.

Oh well, looks like you can add that fancy Nike tracking gizmo to the: gigglechick.com's huge giant amazonian sell out store!!
[note from GC: no, i'll be out there again soon walking/running - but i just don't want to fuck my knees up more right now.]

When I was in college back in 1997-1999, I took aerobics for my gym class. I even took the class when it wasn't required because I loved the stress it took off from some of my other classes and I loved the working out. Somewhere in the 2nd year of taking the class I developed knee aches and by the summer of 1999, I was in so much pain for walking of any type. It didn't help that the college was sitting on a hill and you had to climb stairs to get to any class.
I ended up getting a 'lateral release' where they clip the lateral, realign my bones and put the lateral back together. Working out it seems can be more harmful then good some times to the body. :(

Erin,
I can completely empathize. In January I broke the tibial plateau of my left leg in 4 places stretched out the LCL MCL and Patellar ligaments, completely tore, the ACL and PCL and the meniscus, then SPLIT the tibia from just behind the patellar ligament half way down to my ankle.
Needless to say, I can never go through airport security again without being scutinized! Ortho says I have half the hardware section of a Home Depot, baling wire, chewing gum, spit and a prayer holding that thing together. I'm still not completely up to par, and DAMN it hurts when it's cold!
I never got around to getting my Nikes, but hopefully after Christmas... possibly a New Year's resolution???
Feel better soon gal, and congrats on the Grammy noms for those who's sites you have had contact with!
