Really? Why? Bill's a rogue. A charming rogue, but a rogue nevertheless. Not to mention at the very least a serial sexual harasser. If he'd had the decency to resign during the Monica scandal, then President Al Gore would have been running as an incumbent in 2000, instead of trying to run as far from the Clinton legacy as he could... And he probably would have won. The responsibility for a lot of the things that drove Democrats crazy over the past seven years can be laid directly at Bill Clinton's feet.
And let's be honest: The Clinton years weren't that great anyway, unless you were a Democrat politician getting kickbacks. Sure, Clinton balanced the budget by slashing Defense, because after all, the Soviet Union was gone, so we didn't have any more enemies left in the world. Right?
He bombed the Serbs, he got us into Bosnia (where we still have troops, by the way), and he dithered when Muslim terrorists attacked the World Trade Center in '93, when the U.S. Embassies were bombed in Africa and when the USS Cole was blown up in Yemen. He had opportunities to take out Osama Bin Laden in the 1990s... And he didn't.
Sure, he presided over a period of prosperity, which was mostly due to the Dot.com bubble and the "peace dividend." The 1990s were a holiday from history after the Cold War... Until it ended on 9/11.
At this point, I'd rather see Hillary as president than Bill... And I don't want her, either.
[note from GC: let's see... all the shit that Bush has pulled over the past 7 years oooooor a few blowjobs... yeah, i think i'll stick with "the rogue" who didn't sent thousands of troops to their deaths.]
Hmmm... If the definition of a bad president is one who "sent thousands of troops to their deaths," what would that mean for Franklin Roosevelt (World War II), Harry Truman (Korean War), John Kennedy (Vietnam War) and Lyndon Johnson (Vietnam War)? Far more troops died during their administrations than under Bush. Well maybe not Kennedy, but he had less than one term. And he did start he escalation in Vietnam.
I realize that Democrats look back at the Clinton years with rose-colored glasses, but all of the statements I made above were factual. I don't really understand how any woman who considers herself a feminist could countenance Bill Clinton's behavior towards women. It wasn't just a "blowjob," it was sexual harassment. In today's corporate environment, any man who behaved like that towards a subordinate could expect to be fired, and justly so. It wasn't so much about sex as abuse of power. And Monica Lewinsky was far from the only one.
[note from GC: well i'm sure that all the aforementioned Presidents didn't rack up a total of 935 LIES like your buddy Dubya --- dude, you've gotta chill or take your blathering to a political blog. maybe you should take some time to write a condolence letter to your buddy Fred Thompson. I was posting a frigging article from The Onion - which we all know is a satire site.]
Welcome to the YapFest (10 yapped)
