so, months ago, i had signed up for the Manasquan Mid-Winter Beach Run... thinking that since i had started running in november and then joined the gym in december, that i would kick ass and run this thing.
actually, i did MUCH better than i've done in previous outings. of course, i haven't been to the gym in 3 weeks and i haven't run since my knees went crazy in the beginning of december.
My friend Jude & I, pre-race:

Keep in mind it was 30 degrees inland, and wayyyyyyyyy colder on the beach. I was freezing (not really, i was sweating like crazy.):

This is me, running on the beach... oh yes, i thought of you folks and took video. You're welcome. My pain is your pleasure:
Here I am finishing the race... I WAS walking, but, i decided to run the last bit... FOR YOU (and also to finish under 33 minutes):
After the race, ran into people and ran into even more beer:
also ran into one of my ex-boyfriends... this one is John (Ex. Circa 1985):

anyway... that was yesterday. today has been spent catching up on work and doing a little cleaning --- but i am heading over to see gigglemom at the rehab in a little while.

Whatchoosayin'?? (5 yapped)
you guys should have gone swimming too
[note from GC: actually, next sunday is the Polar Bear Plunge. I'm not doing that, but, Jude is]

WHOOHOO I was there! It was my very first race. I think i might have been running/walking near ya. I am doing C25K and working up to a 5K in the end of March. I will keep an eye on your Blog since i have found it. GOOD LUCK! ps I felt the exact same way on the beach!
[note from GC: the sand is the devil, isn't it!!? i am going to do the Fool's Run 5K on April 5th...

I loved the beach video, cracked me up!!! Loved the hat, whoever thought of that ponytail feature is a genious. I admire you, I definately would have died running in such cold weather, and I would definately never video it. I recently discovered while hiking through SF on my way to Cobb's that if I'm breaking a sweat in chilly conditions, my nose feels the need to drip (gross I know, but you did great... I saw no runniness).
[note from GC: thanks! actually i thought the ponytail hat up about 10 minutes before i left for the race - my hair never fits under those hats without being lumpy]
