i should've taken a before photo...
i just emptied out the pots & pans cabinet.
let's just say it was overflowing and you couldn't close the doors -- it was chock full of pots, pans and paraphernalia
it had a TON of pots and pans from before i was born.
it's okay. i already cleared it with gigglemom and got the green light to toss old stuff.
right now, i've got a batch of the remaining pots in the dishwasher and have another load waiting on deck
so, i guess, i've not "finished" organizing the cupboard. right now, i am dog tired, so i am waiting for morning to scrub down the shelves and then lay the cushy shelf cover stuff on there (i may need to run to wal-mart in the morning to get more/wider stuff than i have right now.
will post an "after" photo when i'm done with it.
(while i'm at it with the cabinet cleaning, i'll be wiping down the food cabinets i emptied the other night)
it's getting there. i am so NOT done with the kitchen (or the living room... or the stairwell... or the upstairs hall (which is a horror show)... not to mention gigglemom's bedroom and my bedroom.
of course, because gigglemom sleeps down here on the bed in the living room - and i don't forsee her ever getting back to her bed upstairs - i am going to attempt to talk her into letting me use the bedroom that she used as MY bedroom and then really just make the room i have now into just my office.
the mega-huge thing that we need to do after i clean this beast of a home is re-do the floors upstairs and downstairs... we're thinking about something that LOOKS like hardwood, yet, isn't really hardwood and isn't a billion dollars like the hardwood.
oh, and she pretty much has threatened death and dismemberment to me if i rip up the carpets on my own. she said that i need to hire a professional to rip the damned stuff up. i am so embarrassed about certain parts of the carpet that i think i am going to take a mat/carpet knife to those chunks before hiring anyone.
**furiousball... yes, i too, still think that a flamethrower would be an easier solution, alas, no can do.
it's about 2am right now... i am tired, i've got an empty pots and pans cupboard, 2 organized & filed mountains of mail, dishes taking a sauna in the dishwasher, and a billion more pounds of clutter to remove from this house before gigglemom gets home from the rehab --- which, we have no idea when that will be. of course, i'm thinking that now that she has this cold (which i'm hoping is only a 24 hour bug) that they'll really keep her for a while.
i have to run over there and grab the dirty clothes at the rehab and take them to the laundromat and bring them back (tuesday)
what else?
i'm going to sleep.
oh! last night as i sorted and filed MY mail (whilst on the couch) i watched the entire first season of Californication! I'd never watched it!!! it was fantastico! (on showtime)

Welcome to the YapFest (5 yapped)
i'm telling you... flame thrower
The office idea sounds like a great one, good luck!
Erin, look at the Adura by Mannington...wood look, but its actually vinyl. Just got it in my kitchen and it looks beautiful. And it is WAY cheaper than real wood or wood laminate. http://www.mannington.com/residential/adura/new.aspx?type=('15','16')
