thursday!!! a few things...
March 6, 2008 4:19 PM

hey there! so, the first 24 hours back with gigglemom have passed.

she stopped being snippy about the house. wait. i take that back... she's still growly about it, but it's more of a quiet seething than the full-fledged "tsk"-ing noises and exasperated sighs.

the visiting nurse was supposed to come tomorrow to get her all set up with someone coming in once or twice a week to take gigglemom's coumadin levels and stuff.

there was a phone call at 9am saying that the visiting nurse would be here sometime TODAY between 11am and 1pm.

this didn't set very well with The Gigglemom who had planned on having me run around for the next 24 hours cleaning the living room and kitchen to put on a facade for said visiting nurse.

so i did what i could (while getting her breakfast and all that.) and the nurse got here at about 11:15am.

stayed for 45 minutes.

gigglemom turned down the at-home therapy because she told the woman it would be more convenient to just have her daughter help her walk and exercise.

granted, it's semi-true. hell, i don't really enjoy being woken up at 9am with a "you need to be there between 11 and 1" for therapy... and i had already told GM that i'd walk her each day (along with feeding and watering.)

of course, i'm sure that the physical therapist would get respect and sweetness & light from gm... we haven't done any "therapy" today except watch the 1st season of Californication (watch it.) and sleep (i've been working while she sleeps... on work work, not housework.)

what else? i am still pretty frigging miffed about gm expecting the place to have had some sort of Extreme Home... Miracle.

ANYHOOOOOOOOO....

Lost & Survivor tonight!!!!

Have I mentioned how much i LOVED last week's episode of LOST!?

Whatchoosayin'?? (2 yapped)

Congrats on having GM home. Although the frustration level at having someone you love sick and refusing treatment is crazy!
Good luck on getting the work done. That makes one of us that's gainfully employed! :)
You are a trooper and my heart goes out to you!

Hearing about Gigglemom reminds me of my own mother - when she was ill, my brother was taking care of her 24/7. All of a sudden he couldn't do anything right, and all she did was nitpick about every little thing. Before she was ill, she was pretty laid back about things, so it was a big personality shift. I think she was just frustrated by having to be so dependent on another person, and that was her only way of exercising control over things. My brother ended up going to some kind of caregiver counseling to deal with it, and that helped him a lot. Have you looked for books that might help you both deal with the situation? Anyway, good luck and don't let it get you down.
