okay!! holy smokes! this is a great day!
first, set up the blind date thing for tomorrow.
and at about 10pm, my aunt called and asked if i wanted to come to florida in June and then go on a cruise with her, my uncle and my cousin kerry
then she said that i only needed to bring spending money and find a way to get down to FL - that they would take care of the cruise part.
HELL YES!
The Royal Caribbean Majesty of the Seas! woot!
so i've been online finding airline tickets - i'll be flying out of Atlantic City the day before my birthday and then coming home on the 29th.
i've not taken a vacation vacation in about 4 years. i mean, i went to boston last year for 3 days, but, that wasn't a cruise to the bahamas.
yes! the FARKING BAHAMAS!!!!!
haha!!!
before this happened i was watching the Price is Right (the prime time show) and i feel like i was one of the contestants that won a cruise.
how AWESOME OF MY AUNT AND UNCLE!!!! it's their 40th anniversary cruise
i am so excited! (here are more photos --- albeit of the ship's refurbishing thing)
so, let's see... June 7th is my 20th year reunion for high school and then the cruise is a couple of weeks later (right after my 38th birthday)
this now gives me MORE inspiration to lose the effing weight. it also gives me 2 months to do so.
i've never gone on a cruise before!!!!!
and i loved Gopher (but will most likely be hanging out with Isaac on the cruise)

Whatchoosayin'?? (10 yapped)
you look great with long hair!

That is so cool!! And what a great 'birthday present' - it isn't, but it is during your birthday... so call it what it is! :)
And I liked Gopher too... he was "Hot" of the 80's. I wanted to grow up and be an assistant cruise director (Julie). This show actually warped my brain a bit - I was so much for falling instantly in love with all my boyfriends because of all the stuff that was going on this show! TMI

Good for you Erin! You are really going to enjoy your trip. I went on a cruise to the Bahamas once and it was a blast. I also spent ALOT of time with Isaac, which was very expensive, lol. Spent over $100 per day on drinks. But had a great time. I highly recommend doing a tour thing when you port in the Bahama's. I did a day at some island and they fill you up with booze first and then go snorkeling. Can't wait to see your vacation pictures! Hopefully I will recognize you when your are all skinny....

Are you crazy? Have you ever heard of The Titanic? The Lusitania? The Andrea Doria? The Edmund Fitzgerald? The SS Minnow? The Hindenburg? No wait, that was an airship. Scratch The Hindenburg...
Have you ever heard of The Empress of Ireland (no, not YOU, the ship) - a tragedy almost equal to The Titanic? I kid you not...
Have you ever seen "The Poseidon Adventure"? (now I'm talking the original movie with Gene Hackman, Ernest Borgnine and Red Buttons - not that crappy sequel "Beyond the Poseidon Adventure" or, even worse, the crappier made-for-TV remake of "The Poseidon Adventure" or the even crappier-er theatrical release "Poseidon"). All of those poor people on board that ship and only six (6) survivors. SIX! There's got to be a morning after...
Have you ever seen the TV movie "Voyage of Terror - The Achille Lauro Affair"? It was based on the true story of the murder of Leon Klinghoffer who was killed and then pushed overboard in his wheelchair by Palestinian terrorists who hijacked a cruise ship. (Side note: I went to college with Mr. Klinghoffer's granddaughter Heidi)
Go on this cruise if you dare, but don't say I didn't warn you.
PS - May I recommend you try the rock climbing wall. What a rush! Follow that up with a visit to the spa...
PPS - Don't forget my postcard.

See? What did I tell you? From todays headlines:
Small Fire Forces Cruise Ship Evacuation
Published: 4/8/08, 12:05 PM EDT
MARYHILL, Wash. (AP) - A cruise ship on the Columbia River with 177 people aboard was evacuated early Tuesday after a fire broke out in the engine room, Coast Guard officials said. Three crew members were treated for smoke inhalation.
The fire was quickly extinguished on the 230-foot Queen of the West. No one was injured except for the three crew members, who were treated at the scene, Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Dave Smith said.
The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
The ship, carrying 124 passengers and 53 crew members, was towed to Maryhill State Park and nudged into the river bank for the evacuation shortly after 5 a.m.
The passengers and about half of the crew members were taken by bus to a hotel, and the other crew members remained aboard. The ship was to be towed 17 miles downriver to a pier near Klickitat.
The Queen of the West was built in 1995, features a three-story paddlewheel and has a maximum capacity of 142 passengers, according to the Web site of Majestic Cruise, which operates the ship.
The company offers cruises from Astoria and Portland to Clarkston, Wash., on the Columbia and Snake rivers, as well as on the Mississippi and Ohio rivers between New Orleans and Pittsburgh and between Seattle and the Alaska Panhandle.
