maybe it's the PMS mixed with the idea that Hillary might not make it - that mixed with reading the Huffington Compost and all of the Obamanites being sore winners (I went on there and posted a congrats on the NC win the other night and there were a few thanks, but many gloating comments. it's ridiculous and sickening to think that these are the sort of people who are electing a nominee)
but anyway, i created a t-shirt after sort of coming to terms with the whole idea of obama getting the nomination.
i am not sure if i had mentioned weeks ago that i, too, was thinking of voting for mccain if hillary wasn't the nominee.
in any event, i've been trying to calm down and come to terms with it as i've said, and think of "The Party" - so what did i do? I created a t-shirt to reflect how I feel. I posted it on cafepress.com
okay that said.... on this one board that different comedians/writers/regular folk go on called ASpecialThing.com there's a thread about the democratic election that's been ongoing.
i've mentioned on there that I am a Hillary supporter... we are few and far between on that site apparently and I've been jumped on quite a few times.
okay... THAT said, i posted the t-shirt on there to show that I will vote for Obama. Got jumped on again and then some chick on there started saying that I was playing the race card regarding another design i posted 2 months ago - the "dream ticket" shirt i created with the ice cream swirl ---
it's just fucking ridiculous.
with THAT shirt i was hoping for a Clinton-Obama ticket at the time and thought that a cute way to symbolize them coming together - it's a fucking ice cream cone
so i've flown off the handle on there defending myself and i feel fucking sick to my stomach.
I really am ready to fucking vote McCain because I really am starting to despise the people who are halfway up Obama's lower intestine.
There I was sort of meeting people halfway, trying to maybe have a light-hearted way of saying "yeah, i will vote for Obama." --- but the thing is, I AM NOT GOING TO FEEL GOOD ABOUT VOTING FOR OBAMA.
and the nastier the obama folks are even when you are sort of reaching out to them, the more I am pulling away from the party.

Whatchoosayin'?? (10 yapped)
I'm really sorry to hear you're not getting the support you need to make a positive change. It's a big deal, and thanks for your honesty abt it.
I felt the same way abt Hillary... wouldn't vote for her if Obama lost (BTW, I'm a older, white feminist) because I was angry at her... I realized after Pennsylvania that I might have to just because I don't think we can afford 4 more years of conservative Republicans... and I REALLY don't like McCain.
It's hard, but take a few days off of it and see how all goes. In reality, I think your shirt is a great middle-ground (and after all, it might even evolve!)

Obama talks a good game but like that old Wendys promo "where is the beef?". Can anybody name anything hes done? I mean IF Obama wins the POTUS will only be 4 years older than me, I dont think the country is prepared for that ;)
I think you are doing the right thing, nothing wrong with a little soul searching.
Even if you end up supporting (PC) Obama (Im a Mac) I'll continue to visit and support you as long as you'll have me.
PS, PC stands for politically correct ;)

BTW could you do McCain T shirts even if you are not voting for him? I promise to buy some.
Hey, there is an Idea.
Whomever buys more shirts gets your vote.
there is an undecided superdelagato doing something similar.

[note from GC: first, i have mccain shirts --- okay most are anti, but i have some floating around there. second, wow, is that idiot in the link effing kidding me!? that cannot be legal]

i am surprised by the hostility coming from both Obama and Clinton supporters towards each other.
I bet the GOPers hate each other just as much as we hate each other. Too bad their party has not adopted democracy or free speech or we might get to watch them chew on one anothers behinds as well.
I support Obama and did notice attacks on him that i at first thought were coming from right wing neo cons only to find out they were coming from Clinton supporters. But i would never vote for McCain.
Perhaps Clinton is really doing Obama a favor by campaigning hard against him. If Obama defeats Clinton no one will be able to say she was soft on him. That he got an easy pass to the nomination. She is really doing him a favor.
Maybe we should remind ourselves that we are nominating a presidential canidate and not competing for bragging rights.
I support Obama but will be happy to vote for Clinton. Campaigning is not governing and if you think McCain is going to be a better choice then either dem just look at the past 7 years and think again.

Yea, I've made up my mind to vote for McCain if Hil doesn't make it. I absolutely REFUSE to vote for anyone name BARACK OBAMA! Sounds too much like Osama Bin Laden to me. BTW, Hil won my county in NC! YAY!!

I went over to the site and saw what's been said... I really don't think it has to become that heated. I was one from your blog who also didn't like the ice cream shirt.. regardless of if it was made 'all in good/cute fun' (although I don't believe it was) the people were just stating their opinions. And really to say you are going to sway to McCain just because you don't like Obama's supporters being excited about his nice lead, that's kinda stupid. If Hillary was ahead by a landslide you would be woohooing all around town.. why not let us supporters of Obama do the same?. I have a feeling you'll say 'but the supporters were 'gloating' did you ever think it could also be you just being upset your girl isn't doing so hot. I just think all of this is kind of childish and I think you threw yourself into the pit on that other website and infact almost invited it. Wouldn't it make more sense to join a forum that shares a lot of your same political views IF you are going to talk politics. If you post in a thread where you know most are not on your side.. you are smart enough to know you'll cause some kind of commotion.

Awwww honey~! I'm sorry you are feeling that way.
Here's the thing. There are zealots everywhere. The exist for Hillary, they exist for Obama and they exist for McCain. Hell, they even exist for GW Bush.
I recently had dinner with a group of (what I considered to be) well educated, tolerant professionals that I respected. We eventually started discussing politics and I thought we were all on the same page, meaning that we were all sort of 'independent' thinkers who could tolerate other opinions, etc. One guy was gay, figured it was a no brainer right? Remember, I'm in LA, so it's VERY hard to find conservatives.
Anyhoo, we start on politics. I'm an Obama supporter, as was the guy across from me. We start discussing why we like him, etc.....
You'd have thought that we threw up in these other two guys' dinners, took down our pants and shit on their foreheads! They started calling us names, essentially saying we were stupid, etc. WAY over the top reactionary. Typically the way that i find reactions between conservatives and liberals. Trouble was, they were Hillary supporters! They went on and on and on, wouldn't let us speak, kept downplaying our opinions. I finally literally told them to kindly SHUT THE FUCK UP. That we were (theoretically) on the same fucking team and wondered why it was so difficult to have a simple political discourse over dinner without it turning into chaos. It's really not asking alot!
As always, it's a hot button topic and I've realized over the years that it's difficult to engage people in politics, sex and religion without there being some substantial outburst of opinion to the degree that it results in some kind of insult, degradation, etc.
Opinions (in these instances) are something that we hold dear to ourselves and is a way to express our personal positions on an array of subjects. Why is it so important for people to deride your fellow peeps just because they feel a certain way? It's fucking stupid. Respect, accept and learn for christ sakes.
Just my opinion, but if we'd all just shut the fuck up for a change and actually listen to each other, we MIGHT actually learn something.
I'd like you to know that there are some Obama supporters that welcome you to the fold. Even if you're kicking and screaming.
The zealots really need to refocus their energy on something a LITTLE more productive.

Here's what you do...and I'm serious about this...have someone you trust to be unbiased make a chart that strips away the race, gender and age of the candidates and only accurately lists the years of government service (especially Federal), accomplishments while in that service, voting record, foreign policy/diplomatic experience, committees seated on, military experience and other relevant government experience for each candidate (tell them to avoid including personal info like spouses, religious affiliations, health, etc.) and THEN decide who is most qualified to be POTUS based on THOSE points and not what the media is telling us.
