hey! so, as you know, GM had surgery on Friday afternoon.
they took her off the ventilator on Saturday at 1pm (which was less than 24 hours after her procedure... the doctors at first thought that she'd be on the ventilator for about 4 days... so, gigglemom amazed them with this.)
then on sunday, they let her eat a clear liquid diet (jello, broth, apple juice, lemon ice)
today she made even better progress - is able to have a "full liquid diet" which includes cream-type of soups.
aaaaand they moved her out of the Critical Care Unit at 7pm this evening... which is AWESOME!
She'll be going to a rehabilitation center either on wednesday or friday
But, so far, everything has been progressing beautifully - and she's been very upbeat and has a positive attitude. Thank God.

I knew something was up when you didn't post for so long. Very sorry to hear that GM was so ill, but really relieved to hear that she is doing so much better than expected. She has an amazing spirit and probably also wants to stick around long enough to make sure that you're married and "taken care of" (like my folks) :)

Hi Erin, I haven't seen you post for a while since this one. I hope everything is going good with your mom and that you had a really nice Christmas. Have a Happy New Year! btw....what ARE your plans for this one? Hope you have a splendid time and don't drink too much, you know how it is recovering from too much drink as we ummmm....get a bit older! ;P I am going out with a friend to celebrate that night for the first time in a VERY LONG time! We are staying at a hotel so neither one has to drive, now I just hope that I don't drink too much! I soooooooooooo HATE praying to the porcelain goddess! :) Take it easy Chica!

Wow! I've missed alot in the past couple of weeks. I'm sorry to hear that GM got so sick but very happy to know that she's "fixed" and upbeat! Erin, cudos to you for being so strong. I can empathize with you and you really do a good job at staying so positive too!!
